Immediately following a ribbon cutting ceremony, the ceremonial first vehicle crossing and the unveiling of a historical plaque, Kunar provincial government leaders celebrate the opening of the Khas Kunar Truck Bridge with a feast served in typical Afghan "family style" Nov. 5, 2009. The bridge across the Konar River was a joint project between Provincial Reconstruction Team-Kunar and the local Afghanistan government. Construction started 24 months ago and represents a $1.68 million investment that paves the way for increased security and commerce in the Khas Kunar district. (Kunar Provincial Reconstruction Team
